The PARI BOY Junior is the successor to the Pari Junior Boy SX

The Junior is specially made for the smallest and youngest patients. With the red nozzle, babies from the first month of life can already inhale. It produces particularly small droplets that can penetrate the very small lung passages of a baby. To make inhalation easier with the smallest ones, the baby mask and baby angle are included.

The yellow nozzle included in the delivery produces an aerosol with slightly larger diameters. Since the droplets are still very small, it would be better to say “somewhat less small diameters” here. The yellow nozzle should be used when toddlers inhale.

The few parts are quickly assembled, and the instructions leave no questions unanswered.

And what if the children outgrow toddler age? No problem, get an LC Sprint nebulizer instead of the included LC Sprint Junior nebulizer, then the Junior model can be used from young (from 4 years) to old.

Function

The PARI BOY Junior is tailored to the requirements that can arise when babies or toddlers need to inhale.

Due to the high pressure of the compressor at 1.6 bar, inhalation times can be kept short. The product developers at PARI have managed to make the compressor about 20% quieter compared to its predecessor. High pressure usually contradicts quiet compressor operation. PARI has mastered these two opposing goals with a good solution that relies on effective noise reduction, making it 20% quieter than the predecessor, the Junior BOY SX.

When babies and toddlers need to inhale, volume is an important criterion. A loud compressor can cause fear, and noise can trigger stress and prevent relaxation. Thus, the volume can also affect breathing and directly impact inhalation.

Matching the LC Sprint Junior nebulizer, a red and a yellow nozzle are included. The red nozzle is intended for babies. It produces particularly small droplets for the small airways of babies. The yellow nozzle can be used for toddlers. The droplets it produces are a bit larger, so they reach the lungs of children up to three years old, and inhalation is somewhat faster.

The nebulizer can hold between 2 and 8 milliliters. The particle size (MMAD) for the red nozzle is 2.8 µm. The respirable fraction or lung-penetrating fraction is almost 80%. This portion has a diameter smaller than 5 µm. 30 percent of the aerosol has a diameter of less than 2 µm. Almost 50% are between 2 µm and 5 µm. And 20% of the aerosol have a diameter greater than 5 µm.

For the yellow nozzle, the particle size (MMAD) is 3.1 µm. The respirable fraction or lung-penetrating fraction is almost 73%. 30 percent of the aerosol has a diameter of less than 2 µm. Almost 44% are between 2 µm and 5 µm. And 26% of the aerosol have a diameter greater than 5 µm.

The treatment focus for the young patients is on acute and chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, acute or chronic bronchitis.

For successful inhalation, which on the one hand can relieve symptoms by moistening the airways and on the other hand can deliver medication deep into the airways, optimal breathing technique is important. Breathing too fast and a high air velocity in the airways do not lead to an optimal inhalation result. Teaching the correct breathing technique to babies and toddlers is difficult. Parents do not need to worry about this with the PARI BOY Junior. The inhaler supports the child in breathing correctly through an integrated training tool. This tool, called PIF-Control, supports learning the correct inhalation technique by limiting the inspiratory flow.
